Do plants move?
What do yo need?
- A little plant in a pot.
- A box with a circuit for light designed by you.
Insert a little pot into a box, with several walls in the way, stopping the light from getting straight to the plant base.
Leave one side open for you to watch.
Water regularly.
Wait for a week or longer to see how the plant tries to reach the light.
Answer the question: which way do you think the plants will grow?
Make your hypothesis, report your findings and draw a conclusion after you test your hypothesis.
EXPERIMENT B
How does a leaf get water?
You need:
- a branch of a tree or a large plant
- a ziploc bag
- Choose a plant from home or a tree in your backyard, and attach a Ziploc bag to it, enclosing a branch covered in leaves.
- Seal the Ziploc enough to hold it in place. You can also use a plastic grocery bag and tie the handles in a knot to secure it.
- Leave the bag on the tree for a week, checking it every day.
- Observe what happens to the zip bag. Describe and draw your conclusion.
